TexWorld

My friend Jocelyn in the BU program invited me to TexWorld today. It's the fabric convention where all designers send their buyers to study the trends and make orders for their summer 2010 through winter 2011 collections. It was filled with 650 exhibitors from 30 countries showing off their denim, lace, silk, embroidery, wool, linen, cotton, eco-friendly material, synthetic fibers, and prints. I was mainly impressed by the lace and embroidery from India due to the impeccable detailing.

After the event - which was, mind you, in the 3rd zone of the Paris metropolitan area (read: way outside the city limits which falls in zone 2) and about an hour commute - I went to find the second (and last) Mexican food market. I got off at the Metro stop Anvers and walked around the find it. There I was, standing in front of the address I directly copied from my google search, staring at nothing. It seemed that no business had ever even set up shop at that address.

I went down the street with the hopes that I had inverted the numbers or that something would pop up, but nothing. I then ventured into a local grocery store to see if maybe in that area they sold jalapenos and fresh cilantro. Unfortunately, I didn't find such "exotic" ingredients but I did find tortilla chip which are also a rarety in Paris. I see a very good market opportunity for anyone willing to open a fully stocked Mexican grocery store...any takers?! I promise to be your first and most loyal customer :)

Inside the convention center where fabric and pattern makers set up their booths in hopes to attract high end clients.

One of the more unique color story boards on display. This is the only close up shot I was allowed/comfortable enough to take since many of the fabric designs are original and exhibitors don't want you to copy them.

Several themed cafes and resting points were located around the grounds. This one was the Italian Cafe (complete with gelatos and espressos).

Though I didn't find the market, the beautiful Sacre-Coeur found me on my way back to the metro and reminded me that there are so many other things to appreciate (and that will be missed when back in the US).
