Day Off

So as I mentioned before, there was a strike on Thursday and many demonstrations so we didn't have class. My friend Jihane and I woke up early and met at Le Bon Marche in the 7th district to start the day. The metro was actually running rather fine (mainly the trains going out of the city were not working) but I did notice there were less people out and about - but the cold weather could have also been the reason!

We mainly just looked and the insanely expensive bags and clothes and dreamed of some day being able to buy them with no regard. We then walked and window shopped along rue de Bac to St. Germain-des-Pres, down rue Bonaparte to get to the river. We headed towards the Musee d'Orsay again to see two exhibits we didn't have time to see the day before with our class (one was for Picasso and the other was on the history of pastel paintings). We then crossed the river to get to Place de la Madeleine to see the chocolate at the famous Fouchon.

We continued to Gallaries Lafayette - the GIGANTIC department store that houses every clothing, cosmetic, and jewelery brand imaginable. Its 9 stories tall and has several restaurants and bars (McDonalds and a Moet Champagne bar...). I recommend going there but with a lot of patience and time because there is a lot to go through.

Finally, after 7 hours of walking/shopping/site seeing we parted and went home to rest.
