My three friends - Jihane, Leslie and Alice - and I got together for Valentine's Day. We first walked around the wonderful 5th district (the Latin quarter) on rue Mouffetard that's filled with specialty shops and adorable restaurants. On Saturday morning this street also has a famous market for all chefs around the city so they can get the freshest and most gourmet ingredients for their restaurants. We bought thick hot chocolate (mine with bananas in it and Leslie and Alice got hazelnut) to warm us as we walked.
All throughout the day we stopped at a pastry shop and picked out the best looking dessert. We saved them for after dinner, along with raspberry and peach sparkling wine. For dinner we went to Lo Sushi - the "it" sushi place to eat in Paris right off the Champs Elysees. By the time we left there were at least 20 people waiting to get a table. We finally went back to Leslies to gouter, aka taste, all our pastry purchases. They were as delicious as they looked : )

Clockwise from bottom left: Chocolate cake ball with chocolate shavings on top, half-baked chocolate cake with chocolate inside, raspberry sparkling wine, two-layered raspberry cream cake, flaky layers - like baklava - with cream filling, raspberry tart, peach sparkling wine, cherry pie/tart, strawberry and cream tart with a sugar heart on top that says "St. Valentin"
